Planting Trees & Shrubs Bare Root is the same as planting containerized or potted plants with the exception of a few points.

  1. Plant Bare Root material as soon as possible.

  2. Soak roots in water for a minimum of one hour.

  3. Prune off any broken roots or branches.

  4. Be sure and spread roots out to avoid crowding.

  5. Be sure and stake trees to give support as they root out.

  6. Make sure trees and shrubs are not planted too deep.

  7. Amend soil with compost or soil amendment, approximately 50% native/50% compost.
